You may hear the saying “Jiu Jitsu changed my life” quite often amongst practitioners. Let’s take a look at how this may be possible.

Martial arts classes are fun and they have endless health benefits. Enrolling yourself or your children into martial arts in one is one of the smartest decisions you can make. Over the years, Brazilian jiu jitsu (BJJ) has emerged as one of the most popular martial arts choices among all backgrounds and ages.

You are learning a life skill, you are learning how you can defend yourself and your loved ones. During your time training, you will start to establish healthy routines which will positively impact and change your life. You will want to optimise your diet to supplement your training, some people also incorporate lifting weights too.

The effect of jiu-jitsu can be especially profound in children, the timid gain confidence, and introverts gain experience in co-operating with others.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes feature a variety of exercises, drills, techniques and sparring, all of which combine to create an enjoyable full-body workout. Some people even describe the art as human chess, it is as much a mental battle as it is physical. Many have achieved their weight loss goals through involvement in BJJ, as well as enjoying a trimmed and toned body.

Essentially, the age, build and gender of the opponent doesn’t matter because successful techniques give anybody the ability to overcome others with consistent training and commitment.

It is likely that your spatial awareness and ability to focus will be improved as these are everyday skills that most people use in different aspects of their lives. From weight loss to improved self-confidence and better mental health to more accurate coordination and spatial awareness, the wide-ranging benefits of BJJ can spill into many areas of living.Β

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes help to develop a growth mindset, by setting goals and acquiring new skills, sharpening current skills and teaching people that failure is as much part of achievement as success. All of this promotes a sense of achievement and boosts self-confidence, determination and ambition.
